Zusammenfassung

With this empirical study some data have been obtained in connection with the procedures used in Spain to appoint headteachers. The informants surveyed were in-service headteachers and some ex-headmasters. The following aspects have been analysed: 1) modes of appointment; 2) evaluation of the appointment procedures based on a democratic election; 3) Requirements to be elegible; 4) Incentivation of potencial candidates; 5) and some guidelines to promote a more professional system
