Abstract

High-fat diets are the main responsible for adipose tissue pathologies. However, not all fats have the same effects on health. Among the most commonly consumed oils in the population are coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, which are rich in saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids respectively. The health implications of consuming these types of oils are mainly due to the metabolic fate of the fatty acids of which they are composed. The aim is to analyse in a murine model the effects of consuming a high-fat diet based on extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil on gut microbiota, brown adipose tissue, white adipose tissue, markers of inflammation and metabolic parameters related to adipose tissue.
