Abstract

First of all, this Doctoral Thesis reviews and analyzes the main mathematical models of heat and mass transfer in olive oil mill waste rotary dryers, as well as the works carried out by researchers on drying kinetics in other dryers to date. Secondly, and as an experimental and fundamental part of this work, new studies on drying kinetics of two-phase olive oil mill waste and olive stone have been performed. Furthermore, drying experiments of other emergence biofuels like spent coffee grounds have been carried out, which have helped to improve these investigations. The experimental studies on drying kinetics of these by-products have been carried out in an experimental convective dryer and the results obtained will be applied mainly to improve the drying process in rotary dryers.
