Resumen
The aim of this paper is to study the impact of technology on literacy and on the way we teach it. To begin with, we shall focus our attention on the influence of technology in our society in general and in teaching more specifically. In addition to this, we shall explain the most remarkable changes these technologies are giving rise to (paying special attention to software and the Internet) in the conception and definition of literacy, in reading and writing themselves, in teaching materials, in methodology and evaluation, and in the teacher’s role. To conclude, we shall summarize the main ideas we have dealt with, which lead us to state that, increasingly, literacy and technology are two inseparable realities.
