Abstract

This paper presents a methodology for estimating the activity or dating, and therefore the frequency of landslides from photogrammetric and LiDAR techniques allowing the study of large areas. It requires to adjust the used photogrammetric flights and then to obtain digital elevation models and orthophotos; from the models, differential models between campaigns can be obtained, to identify potential unstable areas, which must be checked by the stereoscopic analysis of oriented photograms, or monoscopic analysis of orthophotos. The frequency of movements can be correlated with the triggering factor (rainfalls). Once the activity has been estimated at certain return periods, the landslide hazard can be determined, using the previous calculation of the susceptibility and dividing it by the return period. The results were tested on a section of the river Guadalbullón basin (Jaen), with satisfactory and consistent results with other areas.
