Abstract
This thesis focuses on the development of linguistic decision making approaches based on hybrid mathematic models. Firstly, limitations of existing decision making approaches based on fuzzy soft sets and rough soft sets have been pointed out and analyzed. Several methodologies are then provided to overcome these limitations. Secondly, a systematic comparative study on the relationships among different soft rough set models has been carried out. Considering this comparative study, a novel model called soft rough soft set has been proposed to deal with group decision making problems. A new model called hesitant linguistic expression soft set (HLES) has been proposed to handle comparative linguistic expressions (CLEs) in linguistic group decision making problems and a consensus model based on it has been constructed. Finally, a type-2 fuzzy representation model (type-2 fuzzy envelopes) for CLEs has been developed to facilitate the computing with words processes in decision making.
