Résumé

In the mouth of the Valdearazo River in the Quiebrajano dam (Jaén province), mud deposits plenty of shrinkage cracks in floodplain and dam floor areas occurs; they have been originatedafter an important drought period. Polygonal mud bodies, bounded by shrinkage cracks, areeroded and take the shape of little mud balls. During flood events, mud balls roll by the action of powerful transporting small gravel, which is incrusted in the mud ball surface. Thus, armoured mud balls are obtained.
