Abstract

This doctoral thesis is a set of two articles published and one accepted, on the personal factors involved in overcoming unemployment. The first objective was to carry out a systematic review, to structure and summarize the main psychosocial aspects associated with active job search. The second objective was to check if there were significant relationships between social support, emotional intelligence and psychological adjustment in the unemployed, and if emotional intelligence explained such psychological adjustment. The third objective was to check whether there were significant relationships between emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and active job search, and whether emotional intelligence directly and / or indirectly influenced the active search for employment. The results obtained show the influence of emotional intelligence on psychological adjustment and success during the search for employment and help to develop more effective interventions in terms of job search.
