Abstract

The price transmission in the agri-food supply chain: Spanish market of olive oils. In the last two decades the price transmission in the supply chain has emerged as an element of undoubted interest in the analysis of the operation of agri-food markets. However, the inductive studies of the literature on this field and the diversity of analytical techniques used, allow to question the adequacy of the theoretical framework. The main aim of this thesis is to deep in the knowledge on the mechanisms, methods and theories related to price transmission in the supply chain, focusing on the sector of olive oil. To do that, we analyze the object of study from two convergent perspectives: the quantitative, studying how price changes are transmitted on the supply-chain, and the qualitative, analyzing whether the practices of agents prevent effective price transmission. The results show that there is no one perfect price transmission in the food chain of olive oils.
