Abstract

Businesses have progressively been adapting a new strategic attitude given the various economic, social and environmental changes, observed in the environment. New worries have contributed to that, as well as a new awareness, of the economic, social, cultural, political and environmental progress of the human community which can only be achieved with a socially responsible behaviour, in other words, a coherent and transparent behaviour with long term objectives of value, for the business as well as for everyone involved. This behavior leads companies to adopt practices with its stakeholders, being one of the internal practices professional training for the employees. The company benefits from valuing its resources, as well as its distinct abilities compared to its competition, thus the importance of the role of human capital as essential to the companys success. The objective of this doctoral thesis consists in to observe the contribution of social responsibility in human resources development and organizational and to achieve economic, social and environmental goals. In this sense, vocational training, seen as an internal practice of social responsibility influences the performance of companies, including the obtaining of advantages and benefits from their workers. The investigation in the Tourism sector reveals this connection between social responsibility and vocational training and therefore having an impact on the company's success.
