Julio Carabias was born in 1983 in Jaen, Spain. In 2006, I received a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Jaen (Spain). During my bachelor studies, I obtained an international scholarship to study at the University of Texas at Austin (USA), from August to December of 2005. In September 2007, I obtained a FPI grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of Spain to pursue my PhD studies in the Telecommunication Department at the University of Jaen. During my PhD, I was granted for an intership at the Tampere University of Technology (Finland). In December of 2011 I finished my PhD with a dissertation titled Musical Instruments Model Estimation for Polyphonic Music Transcription, which was graded as excellent cum laude. Right after, I spent one year as a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Jaen before joining the Music Technology Group in the Universitat Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona (Spain), where I worked as a visiting lecturer between September 2013 and January 2016. In February 2016 I joined the Audio Research Group at the Department of Signal Processing in Tampere University of Technology (Finland) as a postdoc researcher. Finally, since September 2016 I am with the Signal Processing for Telecommunication Lab at the Telecommunication Engineering Department in University of Jaen (Spain) and co-founded BEATIK, a startup company developing apps for musicians. Nowadays, I am Associate Professor in the Telecommunication Engineering Department in University of Jaen (Spain).
