Abstract

This research focuses on designing, implementing and evaluating a randomized controlled trial assessing the efficacy/effectiveness of a transdiagnostic selective prevention program for emotional problems in adolescents. The impact of three different interventions will be evaluated: 1) PROCARE (Transdiagnostic Preventive Intervention for Adolescents at Risk for Emotional Disorders), which is a group-based, abbreviated version of the Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders in Adolescents (UP-A), including a booster session to reduce the risk of anxiety and depression in adolescents, 2) PROCARE+, which includes the PROCARE protocol along with customized add-on modules tailored to identified adolescent risk factors, and 3) an active control (AC) condition based on emotional psychoeducation. It will be tested which of the three treatment groups shows the greatest differences. The PROCARE+ intervention is expected to show greater power than PROCARE and, in turn, these two are expected to show greater power than the AC group.
