Abstract

Access to the public teaching profession in Spain is a complex and time-consuming process. This is due to the high degree of competition. The aim of this test is for the different applicants to demonstrate that they possess the theoretical and practical knowledge related to teaching. The multi-group analysis carried out on the basis of the number of applicants for the teaching competitive examination shows a negative effect between negative emotional states and emotional intelligence. This effect is greater for participants who have taken the test less than twice. There is a negative effect of negative emotional states on psychological well-being, with a greater effect for candidates who have taken the competitive examination more than twice. The effect of emotional intelligence on psychological well-being is positive and greater for those candidates who have taken the selective test more than twice.
