Abstract

This doctoral thesis presents solutions to the hierarchical control in DC microgrids, which presents several challenges that must be addressed to ensure their efficiency, safety and optimal operation. Therefore, this doctoral thesis develops three general objectives in order to address the challenges in the control stages of DC microgrids. The first general objective is to develop a model and control for DC-DC converters in the context of primary control for DC microgrid applications, ensuring system stability. The second objective is to develop a global control methodology (primary + secondary) that stabilizes the operation of DC microgrids, ensuring system stability and minimizing system losses. Finally, the third general objective of the doctoral thesis is to develop an optimal energy management system in DC microgrids with integration of renewable generation and energy storage systems.
