Resumo

This doctoral thesis examines the relationship between personal and familial factors and the lifestyles of university students from a salutogenic perspective. Through various methodological strategies, a measurement instrument was validated, and systematic reviews and a descriptive cross-sectional study were conducted. The results showed acceptable internal consistency in the instrument. The systematic reviews revealed a relationship between a sense of coherence and health-related behaviors such as alcohol consumption and dietary habits. Additionally, a negative association was found between perceived social support and alcohol consumption, particularly in terms of familial and school support. In the descriptive cross-sectional study, a sense of coherence, self-esteem, family dynamics, and social support were identified as potential protective factors that positively influence the lifestyles of university students. On the other hand, anxiety was negatively associated with lifestyles.
