Resumen

In this work, the principles of Circular Economy have been applied for the recovery of organic waste, according to Directive 2008/98/CE on waste, which facilitates and promotes the transformation towards the "recycling society". For this purpose, artificial lightweight aggregates (LWAs) have been obtained from mixtures composed of clay and organic waste. A total of nine clays from Spain, Italy and Portugal, traditionally used in the ceramic brick and tile sector in southern Europe, have been used. Five organic solid wastes were investigated (olive pomace, coffee grounds, ground nut shells, paper money sewage sludge and cork dust).
