Abstract
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is the most common disability in childhood worldwide, with a prevalence of 2-3 cases/1000 live newborns. Technological advances have led to an increased interest in the use of new simulation-based technologies such as Virtual Reality with Nintendo® Wii or horse-riding simulators in the healthcare field. The aim of this Thesis was to bring together all the available evidence on both devices and analyse their effectiveness in children with CP. To this purpose, two systematic reviews with meta-analyses were carried out in which the effectiveness of both devices was analysed in comparison with other interventions in children with CP with disorders mainly of motor function and balance, among other variables of interest. The results of this thesis showed that both devices appear to be effective in the treatment of disabling sequelae in children with CP.
