Résumé

Strategic autonomy in the European Union (EU) emerged in the field of defense and security industry, and has evolved to other key sectors such as economy and technology. Strategic autonomy is the basis for building a geopolitical axis in the EU that will not lead it to economic irrelevance. Thus, science, technology, digital technology, commerce, data are key elements to achieve strategic autonomy in the EU. The technological field is dominated by American Big Tech companies. Due to the importance of the sector, a serious vulnerability of the EU is evident and it is necessary to open a medium-long term process for the EU to take advantage of the new technological disruptions, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, etc., and become aware of the need to develop a leading technology industry able to compete with Big Tech and ensure a comfortable and sustainable future
