Zusammenfassung

This work deals with a critical analysis of the literary work Excesos amorosos en cuatro novelas ejemplares (1681) by Antonio Vital Pizarro y Cuña. This literary work is made of 4 short novels which accomplish the literary genre guidelines, which emerged when Miguel de Cervantes published Novelas ejemplares in 1613, which was highly successful during the XVII century. Excesos amorosos is the only well-known literary work by this Portuguese author and it was never republished. Throughout this work, love as main theme will be analysed, as well as other interesting traits such as the exemplariness of such pieces of literature. Little we know about the author and there are very few studies about his work. This is the reason why we intend to provide a detailed analysis of the 4 short novels.
