Abstract
A central feature of schizophrenia, present from the onset of the disease and highlighted in first-person accounts by patients, is the notion of "being in their world." This feeling of being detached from reality interferes with daily functioning and is characterized by a frequent disconnection of attention from external events. This feature is by nature a spontaneous, non-task related internal mental process that is often unaware and generally difficult to control, document, or replicate. Interest in examining this condition through neurophysiological techniques such as Cerebral Electroencephalography has recently increased. This doctoral thesis aims to facilitate the scientific examination of this phenomenon by trying to clarify the profile of oscillatory activity that accompanies these states separated from external sensory reality in this group of patients and to facilitate the understanding of how the brain supports this experience.
