Abstract

Background: The Committee for Quality Assurance, following the completion of the second grade promotion, decided to conduct focus groups with students in fourth course of Nursing Degree, as a parallel way of assessing its Quality Assurance System. Methods: Two focus groups with students in the final year of the Degree in Nursing were undertaken. Open questions were developed, covering different topics, as useful aspects or aspects that students would change of Nursing Degree. A content analysis was performed by grouping responses codes and categories from the open questions. Results: Students pointed external practices as the most useful aspect of the degree, and demanded greater number of places and the possibility to perform their practices in special services. Theorical-practical classes should be more oriented to learning skills and attitudes. Seminars should be aimed to clinical expertise. The final career project should be chosen by the student, and students need research training in the last year for its developing. Conclusions: External practices and places for practices should be increased. The final career project titles should be chosen by students, and needs more student training for it.
