Resumo

The models of efficacy of work groups propose that work groups’ resources (inputs) affect, directly and indirectly, to group efficacy (outputs) through group processes. Moreover, these models also highlight the mediator/moderator role of some variables of the organizational context, as for example the technologies used by work groups. The current paper was aimed to analyse the use of technologies in work groups in university students, as well as its contribution on group results. An instrument to assess variables and processes related to group efficacy was designed and validated, including some items about the use of technologies. The sample included 293 Psychology students from the University of Jaén (Spain). Results revealed that even though some of these technologies are used by a high percentage of students, the duration of use is not very high. In addition, group results depend on the duration of use of technology. These data indicate that the application of groupware experiences could be useful to improve the results of work groups.
