Abstract

This paper analyzes personal and academic motivation of students in Early Childhood Education Degree at the University of Jaen (n=199), to check for compliance with the requirements of European convergence process. For that, we used the "Scale of selfperception of personal and academic motivation" (Boza and Mendez, 2013), carrying out a descriptive analysis. Results show favorable perceptions by students of Early Childhood Education Degree surveyed. The best ratings correspond to those items that call into question the personal reasons why students have access to this degree, study conditions and learning strategies used. They also get positive feedback the findings of the students about their life goals and attitudes toward learning. This allows teachers to improve the teaching-learning, responding to new demands created in higher education through the process of European convergence, which is committed to creating a more coherent and responsive to social demands model and training needs students.
