Abstract

The incidence of workplace violence (WPV) in health sector is growing. The aims of this study were: 1) to assess WPV facing nurses and 2) to identify the related factors. We performed a cross-sectional field study on 2021, in the north-west of Morocco (35.2630° N, 5.5617° W). Nurses working for at least 2 years as full-time worker were recruited and informed the Violent Incidence Form (VIF). We obtained 98% response rate and 97% of exposure to at least one episode the last year. Verbal violence is the most common type of violence. Significant factors as age of the victims and the assaulters, and mental condition of the assaulter were obtained. Nurses aged less than 39 years were significantly more exposed to (WPV) compared to older nurses. Data on the authors of WPV showed a significant result. A high exposure of nurses to WPV is noted. The significant factors must be considered for the control of WPV.
