Abstract

Study of the potential of Paenibacillus dendritiformis strain UJA2219 as a producer of AMPs with antimicrobial activity against members of the Enterobacteriaceae family and other food pathogens with the aim of using it in food biopreservation. Biodiversity study of UJA2219 and its extracts on the microbial load of a cell culture and on the bacterial diversity of a homemade vegetable puree. Draft genome of UJA2219 that predicted vancomycin and teicoplaninin resistance and includes putative genes encoding the production of a post-translationally modified peptide product (RiPP), three non-ribosomal peptides (NRPS) and a different peptide. The results provide information on the potential of this strain as a producer of secondary metabolites of interest for biocontrol in addition to suggesting that the antimicrobial substances produced by strain UJA2219 have potential for application in food biopreservation.
