Abstract

In this research we intend as a general objective to verify if having been a federated competition athlete, in the modality of volleyball during the adolescent, youth and adult stage, has an influence on the adherence to a continuous practice of physical-sports activity during the stage of adults and older adults, as well as verify if they carry out healthy lifestyle habits in their daily lives. The athletes in the sample have finished their competitive stage, and their age is between 40 and 70 years. To obtain the information, quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative (self-administered surveys) techniques have been used, to collect information on the personal profile, on the sports itineraries followed by the subjects participating in the research, as well as to find out the transfer of this learning to everyday life. 199 athletes (160 men and 39 women), 18 team captains and 22 sports technicians participated.
