Abstract

There is growing interest in the measurement of physical activity (PA) by means of smart devices, mainly accelerometry and PA bracelets. The opinion of teachers indicates that this would be an instrument to be used daily in schools. Thus, the validity was demonstrated in the measurement of steps and minutes of PA of the specific bracelet for children, Garmin Vivofit® jr. In turn, compliance with the recommendations and PA at different times of the day in preschool children was determined by means of the Actigraph GT3X accelerometer and the Garmin Vivofit® jr bracelet, showing discreet compliance (50%), with less PA observed during school hours than in out-of-school hours. Subsequently, a program to increase PA was applied to children in the school context (6 weeks, 4 times a week, 40 minutes), showing not only an increase in PA but also an improvement at a cognitive and physical level.
