Abstract
The success or failure of the tourism development of a certain destination is related to the residents’ support for its sustainability. The objective of the study is to determine the perception of residents of the city of Córdoba (Spain) regarding support for tourism in a pandemic context, as well as to examine which sociodemographic factors are determining factors in said support. A quantitative, descriptive research was designed, with a field, non-experimental and transversal design. A questionnaire was used to collect data, distributed through a random pattern of day/time/place in the target population (residents over 18 years of age), collecting a sample of 434 surveys. Using the statistical methodology of contingency tables, the determining variables of the resident’s support for tourism emerged. The results show that men, of intermediate age (40-54 years), not resident in the city center, businessmen, with household income greater than 5,000 euros per month and with personal economic dependence on tourism, are the ones who most They support the attraction of tourists in a pandemic. The results can be very useful for tourism planners when defining strategies that promote the development of tourism in the city.
