The aim of this study was: a) to analyze compliance with physical activity recommendations and sedentary behavior in subjects in the first cycle of preschool education, in relation to gender, and; b) to determine possible differences in sedentary behavior during school hours versus out-of-school hours.  Seventy-three schoolchildren (2.12±0.46 years) were selected. The participants wore an accelerometer (Actigraph GT3X; Actigraph, Pensacola, FL, USA) for 5 consecutive days (Monday to Friday), which recorded the level of moderate-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) (min/day), the volume of steps, sedentary behavior (min/day) and the number of Bouts of sedentary behavior (10, 20 and 30 min) from Monday to Friday; as well as during school hours versus out-of-school hours. The results indicate an average compliance with the AFMV recommendations for this age group is around 50%, with a tendency to be higher in boys. In addition, a high level of sedentary behavior was observed at the different times evaluated, although it should be noted that it was significantly lower during school hours vs. out-of-school hours. This study may contribute to generate intervention programs that contribute to an increase in PA and decrease the time spent in sedentary behavior.
