Abstract

In the tourist industry the location is a very relevant data. Geographic tagging, or geotagging, is becoming more important nowadays, especially because of the increased use of mobile devices with wireless internet access and the development and use of Location Based Services. Therefore, it is important that the html documents pointing to a location are geotagged, thus facilitating the task of automatic search agents. The alternatives available are presented in this paper, their main characteristics being summarized in a comparative analysis. Finally, the extent to which geotagging is used in web pages related to the tourist industry is also analysed.
