In this doctoral thesis the synthesis of novel compounds with potential biological interest is tackled by the application of molecular hybridization as a synthetic tool in the Fragment Based Drug Design (FBDD). In order to do so, conveniently functionalized steroids are used as starting building blocks which are lately bonded to other relevant chemical entities considered to be biologically privileged, such as heterocycles and fullerenes. The results allowed the establishment of synergic relationships in the conjugates evaluated, where the properties presented by the steroids, heterocycles and fullerene separately are potentiated or modified, being interesting from the pharmacological point of view, in the search for new antiproliferative agents for the therapeutic treatment of diseases of great current impact such as cancer.
