This PhD aims to know how the strike-slip Socovos Fault determines strain partitioning in eastern Betic Cordillera. This fault crosscut the South-Iberian Paleomargin forming the north edge of the Cazorla Arc. The fault develops a hectometric fault zone with ductile and fragile fabrics. Volcanic rocks of lamproite type intrude the fault zone during Tortonian. Volcanism originates in the lithospheric mantle ascending through a mechanical discontinuity interpreted as a tear fault, where Socovos Fault represents its cortical expression. Lamproite dikes are displaced by the Socovos Fault movement. Paleomagnetism analysis of lamproite dikes shows areas with different deformation mode and subsequent rotation. Socovos Fault shows low tectonic activity during Quaternary, limited to some transversal faults. However, paleoseismic effects have been found in nearby archaeological site confirming a paleoearthquake of M 5.5-6.5 that occurred between 4700-2100 BC.
