Abstract

Rapid prototyping processes are manufacturing processes that provide customized products, in small batches, and with a high degree of automation and immediacy. They initially arise to generate product prototypes, in order to evaluate them before facing a long-run industrial production. Currently, they are evolving towards the production of definitive objects, with the appearance of a wide variety of technologies and materials that adapt to this new manufacturing concept, achieving personalized, quality products with low energy and environmental impact. In order to improve knowledge and generate models that allow predicting and improving the behavior of two of these technologies: single-point incremental forming and 3D printing, this thesis apply metrological, experimental, statistical techniques, and approximation-interpolation methods. With the methodologies developed in this work, the knowledge and efficiency of these technologies are improved.
