Abstract

The doctoral thesis analysed the impact of different factors on the validity of self-assessment, as well as its implications for educational practice. Four studies were carried out with university students. The first one analysed the relationship between students' academic competence and self-assessment. The second looked at the relationship between students' position in class and self-assessment ability. The third one evaluated the effect of the evaluating experience and the feedback received on the ability to evaluate others' and one's own achievement. Finally, the fourth analysed, using a structural equation model, the relationship between students' academic engagement and study strategies with their academic achievement and self-assessment ability. The results allow us to know the influence that the proposed factors have on the accuracy of students' self-assessment, as well as to analyse the implications for educational practice.
