Résumé

Chronic wound healing is affected by oxidative stress. It has been proposed that the use of an antioxidant dressing could promote the healing process. The aim of this project was to compare the effect of an antioxidant dressing on wound healing with the use of standard moist wound care in chronic wounds. A prospective, randomized, multicentre study was conducted with two parallel groups, with 54 patients with chronic wounds of different etiologies. Descriptive data showed a favorable evolution toward healing in both groups, showing that both antioxidant dressing and moist wound healing treatment are effective for local wound management. Overall, the comparative data do not show significant differences, nor do they document significant superiority or inferiority. These results provide scientific evidence of a new alternative for managing chronic wounds, but it would be necessary to consolidate these results by conducting a clinical trial with a larger sample size to confirm the findings.
