Resumen

Translation and analysis of three Arabic novels from the 21th century, within the two great geographical and cultural spaces of the Arabic World: the Near East and the Maghreb: Al-mūrīskī, which is a recreation of the Morisco Ibn Qāsim al-Ḥaŷarī’ riḥla (Kitāb nāṣir al-dīn), and Sīrat ḥimār, recreation of The Golden Donkey, both of them written by the Moroccan author Ḥasan Awrīd; and the novel Al-mūrīskī al-ajīr by the Egiptian novelist Ṣubḥī Mūsà, whose main character is a Cairene man of the 21st century with Morisco ascendancy. This late novel goes back to the time of the Rebellion of the Alpujarras, adding a travel throughout the history of Spain until 1978, intertwined with life in present-day Egypt after the Arabic Spring movement. In addition, this dissertation offers the two writers’ biographies, and a summary of their production, and it includes personal interviews made to the authors.
