Abstract

This Doctoral Thesis contributed to developing a new photovoltaic (PV) laboratory in Lima-Peru, by implementing a characterization system for PV modules of different technologies. The laboratory is the first of its kind in Peru and allows performance studies in outdoor conditions. It was implemented in the Physics section of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) in collaboration with the UJA research group IDEA. Seven different PV module technologies are currently installed. Each module's current-voltage (I-V) curve is measured at five-minute intervals. Simultaneously, the temperature, irradiance, solar spectrum, and environmental conditions are measured. In addition, specialized software was developed for the control, measurement, and storage of data. In annual periods, the PV performance and characterization of the solar spectrum in Lima were analyzed.
