Resumen

With the development of Information and Communications Technologies and the massification of the Internet, academic plagiarism has reached new characteristics and a worrying dimension, cyber-plagiarism being its most aggravated form. The general objective of this thesis was to analyze and describe the situation of cyber-plagiarism among the students of the University of Informatics Sciences of Cuba (UCI), in the development of academic works. The approach followed was quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional. The process of selection, adaptation and validation of content was developed through the Delphi method, of a questionnaire to analyze academic cyber-plagiarism. Subsequently, the Exploratory Factor Analysis was performed. As a result, a valid and reliable instrument was obtained, applied to a sample of 168 students from the Faculty of Computational Sciences and Technologies of the UCI. This allowed us to analyze the prevalence of cyber-plagiarism, causes associated with its commission, the attitude towards this practice and the actions related to the preparation of academic works. In addition, 168 academic works were evaluated through two anti-plagiarism computer tools, to be contrasted with the results of the questionnaire. Finally, data triangulation was performed. The result of the application of the techniques and instruments together with the triangulation of data, made it possible to identify insufficiencies and needs that served as the basis for designing a proposal for improvements, taking into account a mixed approach that contemplates preventive and detection measures. These constitute theoretical and practical references that contribute to the training of students to develop quality academic work.
