Abstract
The Pandemic and the war in Ukraine can together be seen as triggers for a new configuration of the international economic and business environment, characterized by geopolitical uncertainty and a dynamic reorganization of the global economy. The multiple global crises call for (especially direct) investments in energy, food security, health, the resilience of supply chains and increasing the productive capacity of the least developed countries. The net direct investment position (outward stock minus inward stock) of developed countries is generally positive and that of the least developed countries is significantly negative. In 2021-2022, in terms of flows, the sign varies by region and country. In the case of Spain, investment outflows have declined and at the same time, there have been strong disinvestments, while there have been increases in foreign direct investment inflows.
