Abstract
The University Schools of Nursing play a dual role in the promotion of nursing research as they perform: a) teaching of research techniques, and b) carry out research. The aim of this study was to identify the current situation in Andalusian Nursing Schools regarding the carrying out of research. The methodology used was a bibliometric study on works published by Andalusian Nursing School teachers between 1997 and 1999. Nursing teachers from 12 of the 16 Schools have had some research published during the period in question, and the universities of Jaén, Cadiz, Huelva and Almería particularly stand out for their contribution. More than the half the projects were a result of collaborations between both the educational and healthcare areas. The journal that has published the largest amount of research is Enfermería Científica. The most frequently studied topics are the Clinical Nursing of adults and Community Health.
