Abstract

This article analyses how the relationship between Henry IVth and Miguel Lucas, constable or Castille is portrayed in Los Hechos de Miguel Lucas de Iranzo. Although constable Iranzo was considered one of the most loyal subjets to his king, the truth is that his chronicle let us know that there were some disagreements between them. Sometimes their relationship was tense and even violent. Nevertheless, the chronicle manages to justify those episodes and show them not as such, but as a proof of Miguel Lucas’ loyalty (and not of his disobedience). This article also studies how the chronicle makes the reader think that every single decision of constable Iranzo about his king was right and benefited the crown.
