Abstract

A description is given of the experience that a group of novice teachers underwent with the active participation in the Teacher Training Programme, held by the Institute of Educational Sciences of the University of Seville during the academic year 2009-2010. In order to improve teaching performance, three steps were carried out: (1) analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the teaching practice of the participating novice teacher; (2) planning and implementation of improvement actions designed to minimize the weaknesses detected; and (3) reflective assessment on the effectiveness of the actions performed. The results present statistically significant changes (p< 0.001), and hence we examine not only the problems encountered during the implementation of the improvement actions with respect to the weaknesses, but also the degree of achievement obtained.
