Resumen

Throughout the centuries, different conceptions have been established in relation to the contrast between being a man or a woman. In the middle of the 18th century, the foundations of the current education system began to be established in Europe, although the right of girls to an elemental education was not establisheduntil the Moyano Law of 1875. Between 1876-1938, the Institution of Free Education proposed coeducation in schools, with a natural coexistence between the sexes in the family and in society. After the Spanish Civil War, joint schooling was prohibited. With the advent of the 1978 Constitution, it advocates non-discrimination on the basis of sex and promotes real and effective equality. Today, since the appearance of the LOGSE (1990) and the current LOE (2006) together with its subsequent modifications (LOMCE, 2013; LOMLOE, 2020),coeducation and equality between sexes appear intrinsic to these laws. In this sense, Physical Education (PE) is an ideal subject to work on coeducation and equality among students. During PE classes, students interact, interact, work on values (respect, empathy, assertiveness, resilience, solidarity...), and it is the perfect contextfor proposing playful situations, where equality between the sexes and coeducation are ensured. Coeducation is an educational method based on the principle of gender equality and non-discrimination on the basis of sex, and can help teachers.
