Abstract

Child-to-parent violence is a phenomenon of great repercussion due to its impacton family dynamics, generating great interest in professionals and researchers in recentyears. Most of the research on this phenomenon has been carried out in the EEUU andSpain, so there are some countries where the prevalence rate of this phenomenon isunknown. Concretely, in Chile, despite of the increasing number of cases of child-toparentviolence, there are non-official statistical data that could provide informationabout this prevalence. Thereby, research on this topic is still very scarce in this country, regarding both psychosocial variables involved and the assessing method of this type of family violence. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to adapt and to analyze thepsychometric properties of the Child-to-Parent Violence Questionnaire, young version(C-VIFIP, Cano-Lozano, Amador-Flores, Valdivia, and Contreras, 2017) in a sample ofuniversity students in Chile. The sample consisted of a total of 250 university students, from different universities in Chile, aged between 18 and 25 years (M = 21.10 years, SD= 1,705 years). Results from this preliminary study indicate that the C-VIFIPquestionnaire is an appropriate instrument to assess child-to-parent violence in Chile.
