Abstract

This research was developed in the Dominican Republic and focuses on university teachers, especially those who are part of the Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña University (UNPHU). In this context and taking into account the importance of attention to diversity in the teaching-learning, we set a general objective to identify the training needs of teachers at the university, regarding attention to diversity. Based on the objectives we have set the following objectives: 1. Analyze and understand the attitudes, perceptions, beliefs, opinions held by the team of education professionals practicing in the UNPHU Diversity. 2. Knowing the degree of training of university teachers regarding attention to diversity. 3. Identify the training needs of university teachers UNPHU in relation to the Attention to Diversity. 4. Find out whether the student received their charge adequate teaching learning process and how it was evaluated. 5. Offer suggestions for improvement intervention and guidance to teachers for addressing the special educational needs. 6. Provide teachers UNPHU the results of this research looks at understanding the perception about it. 7. Develop and deliver a guide to Meet Basic Ideas student diversity we have in our classrooms. The research design is descriptive, although with a slight explanatory connotation, for it opted for a mixed methodology: quantitative and qualitative. Based on the first, we use the questionnaire, which provides a more objective and comprehensive perspective. Based on the second, we use semi-structured interviews, which give us the data that reflects the views and perceptions of the participants in relation to the object of study. Among the results we highlight the lack of training, both initial and ongoing university lecturers who teach in the UNPHU. Also, the faculty believes that the existence of disability was inherent in the man himself, and that all students have the same right to education under equal conditions.
