Abstract

The present study aims to analyze some of the hallmarksof American Gothic in two films by Rob Zombie set within the social andpsychological context of the Deep America of the 70s: The House of the 1000Corpses (2003) and The Devil’s Rejects (2005). Our approach will be based on astudy of the marginal characters as portrayed in these productions, focusingon the relationship between the places they inhabit and how they control their actions of anomic nature, as well as their corporeality of a marginal nature withrespect to other individuals integrated as normal into the conventional society
