Abstract

Introduction and objectives. The shortage of physical activity in the students supposes high levels of childhood obesity and overweight, caused by the lack of participation in after school activities or the use of free time in sedentary activities. However, there are no many studies that analyze this situation in students between 10-12 years. The main goal of this PhD statement is to analyze and to compare the utility, fun and motivation in the Physical Education lessons in the region of Murcia. Equipment and Method. A total of 1433 students (736 women and 697 men), whose ages were between 10-12 years from different state schools of Murcia Region, participated in the inquiries study through sampling. Through of IAFHE instrument, were obtained the necessary information to carry out the investigation. Previously, had been made the validation of the instrument. Results. The statistical analysis showed that: a) the practice of physical activity is bigger in men than women; b) the perception of usefulness from PE subject, is associated in a positive way with males; c) the fun in the PE lessons and its relation with the normal levels of physical activity from males, produces a relevant increment of PE's level; d) the motivation generated by the teacher is considered high by the males and produces relevant differences in the women when motivation is considered low. Conclusions. The results of this PhD thesis confirm that PE subject is considered useful by the males. However, in women, show when there's an increment of the usefulness perception that produces an increment of the physical activity. The motivational perception transmitted by the teacher for teaching of the physical-sport activity in males is related with an increase of the rates of regular physical activity. Therefore, the greater is the motivation; perception of usefulness and fun that generates the teacher in the development of the PE lessons, higher will be the implication by males and females and, therefore, that will produce a greater practice of the activities which take place in and out of the PE classes.
