Zusammenfassung
Piracy has become an emerging phenomenon of unexpected proportions that has highlighted the need for appropriate legal regulation to prevent and prosecute it. The international community has reacted by generating operations and agreements with affected countries, including the European Union’s Operation Atalanta. However, there are still many aspects to be improved if the legal instruments that are applied against suspected pirates are to be effective.
