Resumen

This paper presents a study of the Upper Pliensbachian-Lower Toarcian ostracods of the Traras Mountains situated in Northwestern of Algeria. We present an ostracods list composed of 8 families, 11 genera and 37 species. Important changes in the composition of the ostracod assemblages have been recorded related to Pliensbachian-Toarcian boundary and the Polymorphum-Levisoni zones boundary. The turnover related to this biotic crisis includes the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event. In benthic environments, the turnover is evidenced by uppermost Pliensbachian assemblages dominated by families Healdiidae and Cytherellidae to upper part of Levisoni Zone with assemblages dominated by families Protocytheridae and Polycopidae. A comparison with other regions in the Western Tethys is included in this work.
