Abstract

Since the very introduction and subsequent development of the Expressed Emotion construct, and its proven relevance for prediction of relapse in schizophrenia, one of its components have become salient, namely the Critical Comments. Therefore, some of the studies could have drawn the calculations on the basis of this component alone without altering the final result. Nevertheless, a number of studies show that the Critical Comments component loses relevance in favour of another component, Emotional Overinvolvement. The paper issues a hypothesis to explain this fact.
